There are several car racing themes in New Zealand and all of them have their own interesting angles. At Hampton Downs this sport will be celebrated between January 20th and January the 22nd at the annual New Zealand Festival of Motor racing. It will be visited with class by one of the world’s top racing car brands BMW. The F5000 monsters will be there to race too. The F5000 are still considered to be the best in the world from the 1960’s 70’s era. In addition to some contemporary racing machines, you will see cars that have decades of worldwide motor racing history behind them.

The variety of racing venues within New Zealand is eye opening. With the two very different car types in mind and the many different styles of racing available, let’s take a look at some of them and give you a quick insight.

NZ Six

This looks to be the area for the beginner hobbyist. There are rules and guidelines along with the firm belief that it is not what’s in the car that should win it’s your own driving skill that should take you over the finish line first. There are two race categories in NZ Six “Holden HQ” and “Super Six” The Holden HQ category uses heavier more sluggish cars, whereas the Super six uses lighter cars which are fine tuned to respond to steering better. It is said if you can master a car in the Holden HQ category you can drive anything.

Historic Muscle Car racing

The list of rules for this style of racing is complex and strict. Unlike the cars that are featured on the streets of Tokyo, portrayed in the movie, “Fast and Furious Tokyo drift”, the rules for this style of racing are disciplined. Modification specifications are defined in the guidelines along with what are and are not acceptable changes. This style of Motor racing looks to be for the more serious hobbyist, possibly mechanics themselves who enjoy modifying the car but getting someone else to drive it.

New Zealand rally racing

Cross country mayhem driving terrains at a speed most us would not dare too. Driving around the edges of a mountain with nothing to stop you going over, other that a wooden picket style fence. This is not, under any way, for the hobbyist in any way. This business is a serious one and in June of 2012 the FIA World Rally Championship will kick off for another intense challenge.

NZ Sports car Racing

Sports car racing is run on a circuit. If you watch Formula one, it is not that much different in rules and technique but New Zealand seem to love doing this in vintage style.

To sum up, car racing was just another fanboy sport in New Zealand until a crop of enthusiasts thought about setting up facilities to promote the sport. Naturally, when the interest grew to a point exceeding general expectations, more machines were imported to keep the racing environment alive, since then, New Zealand car racing has attracted great number of people.

The next race is the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Kansas (Kansas 400), which takes place at the Kansas Speedway this Sunday at 2 p.m. This tri-oval track is a passer’s dream – one that Jeff Gordon has mastered twice before, the only driver to win two times here.

We’re now looking at the third race in the Chase for the Cup, and it’s separation time for those leading the pack, and make-up time for those looking to climb back into the top spots. The track is 1.5 miles in length, and it’s a 400-mile race.

Mark Martin put a bit of online nascar betting distance between his No. 1 ranking and his closest followers after his recent ascention to the top spot. But Jimmie Johnson is running strong, and seems to be sticking neck-in-neck with Martin as the chase heats up. Tony Stewart, who was the front-runner for much of the season, has slipped all the way down to sixth place, 74 points behind the leader. There was a time when Tony had the most wins, as well, but now trails Martin by 2 and is tied with Johnson at 3. Things don’t look good for the maverick, especially here at Kansas where the drivers will have plenty of room to maneuver around him and his tactics. I wouldn’t bet Stewart to win or place here, and I’d shy away from him in one-on-one bets vs. the top 8 on the leaderboard. Furthermore, his money line would have to be a no-brainer to even put $100 down on him against someone in the top 13.

Gordon knows the track, and as was mentioned has had success here, so you can’t count him out. However, he only has one win this entire season, and has fallen to 10th in the standings. I think it’s a decent bet for Gordon to place in the top 3, but I wouldn’t take a chance on an outright win.

My online nascar odds prediction is that Martin finishes second, Johnson third, and Denny Hamlin comes up with a huge victory here, setting up an even more interesting race as we wind down the season. Kurt Busch is always a threat, especially in a race like this, but I don’t see he or any of the other challengers coming up with an upset in this one.

Stick to the strong one-on-one matchups and hedge with a couple outright win bets and you’ll make some money here.

As opposed to playing on poker sites such as Full Tilt Poker, BurnPoker, or PokerStars, when playing live poker, your head should be on a swivel, ever vigilant. You want to notice the physical tells most players cannot help but give. By paying attention and making observations, you will pick up on these physical tells and be able to figure out what they mean, which results in turning a profit or saving a bundle at the poker table..

Common Physical Tells

Next time you are playing live poker at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, pay attention for some of the following physical tells:

If a poker player’s hands begin shaking (providing he is not normally a shaker), this typically means he has a monster. Proceed with caution.

If a poker player begins breathing rapidly, which you can notice in his or her chest area, they have a great hand and it just improved.

An opposing player who has frowned and scrunched up his cheek typically is trying to make you think they missed. More often than not, they did not.

An opposing party poker player constantly staring at the board is trying to piece together his hand in hopes of finding that he did hit the board. Most often, this player can be knocked off his hand. If he bets and stares at the board, it is typically a bluff and should be raised or called.

A player who perks up, sitting statuesque typically has a strong hand, while a player who is leaning back in his seat has a weak hand.

A betting player trying to look disinterested on PokerStars.com typically wants a call and attempts to act uncaring, while a poker player who has bet and stares you down has often missed and is running a bluff.

Understanding physical poker tells is a valuable skill that every professional poker player should master. By making observations at the poker player, you can pick up on and exploit many of the above physical tells.

Poker is a very engaging and a very entertaining game. Playing poker at a casino might be the perfect way to experience the game but it is not always possible to visit a casino and play whenever you feel like it. This is where online poker comes into the picture. Online poker sites make it easier and comfortable for people to play the game whenever they feel like. However, there are quite a lot of people who are weary of playing online for fear of online frauds.

There are quite a lot of differences between playing poker online and in real casinos, knowing these differences will help you decide whether online poker is right for you:

The Betting Limits

The UltimateBet betting limits imposed on players online and in land based casinos are different. In online sites, players would not be required to put up large antes when compared to the land based casinos. This is one of he benefits of playing poker online. Online poker sites often allow players to bet smaller amounts which makes it quite attractive to players who do not want to risk too much of their money.

Distractions

When you play poker online, there are no other physical competitors at the table and no other people around you. In land based casinos, such as the MandalayBay, there are sometimes too many distractions which might make you feel uncomfortable at times and can make it difficult to concentrate on the game. In online games, there is no rush and no distractions at all. You would be able to take your own time and think clearly before you make any decisions.

Multiple Games

Another advantage of playing internet poker is that you would be able to play multiple games at once. This is not possible if you play poker at a land based casino since you can only be at one table at one time. However, if you want, you can play several different games at once online. Although you might need better concentration skills if you want to do this, there are several players who prefer to play several games at once.

Convenience

One of the most important reasons why so many people today prefer to play poker online is because of the convenience that it offers. If you want to stay at home and still enjoy a game, playing online is the only option. You would not have to drive or travel anywhere to play. You will just need a computer and internet connectivity in order to log on whenever you want and play poker. You do not even have to wait for your seat or stand in queues. Again, there are no other costs involved like plane tickets, hotel rooms, meals or drinks when you play online. This makes it a very convenient and cheaper way to play the game.

There are quite a lot of advantages of playing poker online and if you like the game and want to have the convenience of playing whenever you want, online poker is the best bet.

In poker, a “tell” is any physical reaction, behavior, habit or clue about your hand given to the other players. It would serve a player good to remember always that there are a lot of exceptions and contradictions to the rule in poker. Furthermore, foolish players will be given false tells by the skilled pros. The tips below are applicable for both novice and advanced players and are supplied by poker experts.

Watch the eyes

Because the eyes hardly ever lie, this is the reason why sunglasses, caps or visors are worn by pros when playing poker.

Facial expression

By wearing a cap when you play poker and looking downward, a lot of pros attempt to conceal their entire face this way. BurnPoker pros are famous for the classic stare down and this is what they are trying to avoid. When your hand is strong, you may show a distinct show of confidence. On the other hand, your face may show obvious discontent when your hand is weak.

Strong is weak, weak is strong.

Players like to be actors basically. This applies to novice players and pros alike. They tend to appear disinterested when they have a monster hand. Otherwise, a player who may be running a bluff tries to look intimidating and raises the level of his voice while raising the pot.

Anxiety

In general, people who are confronted or anticipating confrontation feel anxious. This is referred to as the ‘Fight or Flight’ stimulus response by psychologists. Palpitating heart rate, dry throat, eye pupil dilation, flexing of muscles are just a few of the physical changes which serve as manifestations of anxiety. Some of these characteristics can be exhibited by poker players when they are ready for confrontation.

Hands trembling

In poker, a big hand can be represented by the player’s trembling hands. This is also a side-effect of anxiety. Beware of this player.

Glancing at chips

If players connect with the board after a Flop, it is common for them to glance at their chips swiftly. The player could already be planning his attack when you notice this subconscious reaction.

Peeking hole cards on Flop

When the poker board is showing a potential 3 card flush draw, some players will take one more look at their hole cards. Because a player keeps in mind only that the two cards are different suits, it would be typical for him to look and see if one of his cards is connecting.

Repetitive patterns of betting

Generally, the way a player habitually bets on certain situations is the basis for most revealing poker tells.

Attitude and body posture

Based on their hand strength or attitude, some players may display obvious changes in posture. When a player has strength, the player may be sitting in an erect position and is very attentive. On the contrary, when a player has a weak hand and is not confident, the shoulders may slump or drop.

Stacking chips

If you study how players stack their chips, tight conservative players keep their stacks well organized while loose aggressive players maintain sloppy stacks.

It is amazing what a difference a single movie can make. As soon as fans of Lord of Rings got their first glimpse of the Fellowship of the Ring, they started talking about traveling to New Zealand, where the movie was filmed. Part of the reason for this was because some of the fans are die hard enthusiasts and love all things Tolkien Yet there is a large portion of people who suddenly wanted to go to New Zealand because the movie provided them with their very first glimpse of a truly beautiful country.

Before the Lord of the Rings trilogy, few of us knew anything about New Zealand. We certainly didn’t know how breathtakingly beautiful the scenery was. Thanks to the movies, we not only no of New Zealand’s beauty, but most of us have also learned a little something about this incredible country as well.

One of the most important things that we have learned about New Zealand is that there is a lot of great reason besides the fantastic scenery to travel to this South Pacific country.

Ghost Hunting

If you are not interested in the paranormal, you probably don’t care that before it was being used to stage epic movies, New Zealand was home to some very interesting people, some of whom are said to be haunting the country. This makes it perfect for anyone who has ever been tempted to do a little ghost hunting.

When you are seeking ghosts in New Zealand you will want to start in the south. You’re destination is Larnach’s Castle. A long time ago the castle was the home to a young heiress who died at just 21 years old. Many people feel that her presence can still be felt when you stand in the ballroom or her old bedroom

After visiting the castle, you want to head north and check out Wellington’s Hotel Intercontinental, Karori Cemetery, Napier’s Masonic Hotel, Waitomo Caves Hotel, and Spirits Bay.

Hunting Trips

Ghost hunters aren’t the only people who will enjoy a trip to New Zealand, game hunters will too. The game that can found in New Zealand includes goats, pigs, and game birds. The great thing about being a hunter an in New Zealand is that many of the countries mammals are currently considered pests, so hunters are always welcomed. The best places to go hunting in New Zealand include Okau Park, Trout ‘n’ Trophy, and High Peak Estate Trophy Experience.

Kayaking Trips

New Zealand has a vast waterway that is perfect for kayaking In order to see it all you will have to come back several times. It is literally possible to spend weeks on the water and not see the same thing twice. The best places to take your kayak include Bay of Islands, the Northeast Coastline, and Abel Tasman National Park.

The great thing about visiting New Zealand is that you will never be bored. There is always something new to try, and something interesting to see. A trip to the beautiful South Pacific country is something your entire family will be talking about for years and years.
